Luistertip:
Episodes Archief - Onderstroom
OnderstroomMay 2025 Brilliant documentary, about the (spoiler alert: succesfull) struggle of the small Walloon town of Couvin in 1978, against state plans to build a water dam. The power of unity and fighting the system, as told by people who did it. Inspiring and sometimes very funny too, go check it out somewhere if you get the chance.
May 2025. Pamphlet/book by the late great David Graeber, in which he wonders why anthropologists keep silent in the upswing of anarchist thinking as a political philosophy, while they could bring so much to the table. Are they afraid of being accused of romanticism? This is already from 2004, so lóóng before his The Dawn of Everything, co-written with David Wengrow, which at least did not shy away from linking mutual aid and other anarchist concepts with anthropologist studies.
April 2025.
Watched this beautiful movie, by Cyril Schäublin, a fictional account of the time Pjotr Kropotkin spent amongst the Swiss watchmakers in the Jura and became an anarchist. It's on the Yooptyoob, with English subtitles (the movie itself is mostly in Swiss German, French and Russian) but if you have the chance to go and watch it in a cinema or stream it without having to watch annoying ads that make you want to kill someone every five minutes, please don't hesitate.

YouTubeApril 13 2025. Just watched the very last episode of Killing Eve (4 seasons) and now I'm really pissed. I wanted a fairytale ending, not a dystopia. Nevertheless, this is one of the best and funny cruelest series ever written, with some absolutely brilliant acting.
April 2025.
#peterpontiacApril 2025. It was written in the stars that my recent obsession with competition and rivalry would lead me to this book. Written in 1902 as a reaction to some of the very limited readings of Darwin's Origin of Species which assumed that almost everything in nature, including man, had developed through violent struggle and fights for means of existence. Kropotkin argues that this struggle did exist, but that mutual aid between members of the same species had always played a much greater role.
Yep, it's that time of the year again: World Autism Day. Rism with the 'Tism, I'm perfectly fine, thank you, but I don't understand this world and wish everybody was like me so this would be a better place for everyone. So much fake people and terrible crap to deal with, can you see what I see? Three cheers for all my fellow autsiders and allies!
Listen while you work: Everyday Anarchism Podcast episode 77: An interesting talk with Richard McCarthy, co-author of 'Kuni', about farmers markets, imagining new ways without state meddling and the Japanese way of living of Kuni.
