Brazilian (from the São Paulo area)

I like to draw, watch sports (most often snooker, chess and a few racing series), open source software, and some movies and kdramas/cdramas. Posts will probably be a mix between these things.

Trying to draw the interior of "Centro Cultural São Paulo" (Sao Paulo Cultural Center). It has a very interesting architecture and the friends who were at the table challenged me to draw it 😅

Me, my partner and a couple friends went there to talk and draw a bit, I also got to play a few chess games before that (it's a well-known place where people go to play), so it was a very pleasant visit 😁

Drawings of "Miolos", an art fair for independent artists that happened earlier this month. I confess I didn't know it yet, but it's one of the biggest art fairs of this kind. The artists there were selling independent comics (especially zines), originals, prints, stickers and some other items.

The fair was too crowded for my taste, so I barely walked around, but it was super impressive to see an event like that being held in such an important place (the Mario de Andrade library) and with so many people attending.

@yaamani was one of the artists there, and the reason I went to be honest. I've being drawing every art fair in which they're exhibiting their work, but due to this one being huge, and in such a nice venue, it was a bit extra intimidating.

The first drawing I made was the second image here, the paper was almost an A3, so I had space to draw many details. I like how it looks in person, but it doesn't give much perspective on the place itself.

A week earlier one of Ya's friends (who would be in Miolos too) joked about how it would be for me to draw that venue, especially the ceiling architecture, and not wanting to disappoint I made another drawing from halfway through the stairs to the 1st floor (the first drawing), as it was impossible to frame everything from the ground level. This was made on an A5 paper, I wish I had gotten there earlier because the view was really cool.

One of the things that happened while I was absent from here, is that I found the person I'm sure is the love of my life. I love you, @yaamani 🥰

I made this drawing to use as a profile pic on WhatsApp, it's based on a photo we took.

If you understand Portuguese, I highly recommend following them on TikTok, really cool content, they're an amazing artist.

A drawing I made while waiting for my partner's uni class to end. The real life perspective seemed quite strange to my eyes, the corridor at the right, further away from me, seemed much closer instead, and this wrong space perception was reflected on the drawing, which ended up with a strange perspective that doesn't fit together, although it still manages to capture the vibe of the place somehow, I think.

I always get lazy and stop posting, but let's try yet again to keep at least one social network active 😅

Every time I come back there's also the question if it's better to use pixelfed, mastodon or both, but this time I'll try to stick with this mastodon account, pixelfed is great but it being led by a single dev, having a lot of old issues unsolved and the comments part of the UI not being very welcoming (which I guess it's part of why I rarely see comments there) gets me worried. I also get worried that the sunny garden instance seems pretty slow to load here, but well, it loads eventually and it's a great instance to be :)

A bit late on the topic, but it's hard to describe the dream it was to see Fernanda Torres win best female actor at the golden globes, first win for Brazil in acting categories and 25 years after her mother, Fernanda Montenegro, was nominated (in 1999 for her role in Central Station).

Her performance was indeed outstanding, and I really recommend the movie (called "I'm still here"). A especially important film considering the threats to democracy we've seeing all over the world (here we were extremely close of another military coup just a couple years ago, in January 2023).

But back to the ceremony, a Brazilian movie critic I like was doing a livestream commentating it, and the happiness on chat was like a world cup win 😄

It was also very heartwarming to see people going to Tilda Swinton's socials to thank her and show some love after her joyous reaction to Fernanda's win 😁

"Flow", created with #Blender, wins the Golden Globe for best animated feature
https://variety.com/2025/film/columns/flow-golden-globe-win-independent-animation-1236266805/ "The film was created using Blender, a free, open-source software widely used by independent and amateur animators. This marks the first time a Blender-made production has won the Golden Globe for animated feature, proving that major success in the medium is, at least theoretically, open to all creators, not just those working in the studio system" The power of #FreeSoftware

A number of times already I meant to use the !mdl shortcut on DuckDuckGo to search My Drama List, but typed !mdn instead (the Mozilla webdev documentation).

I wonder if more people mix them up too, I always imagine confused faces at Mozilla seeing people look up kdramas in their javascript docs.

In hindsight, I guess that the 30th of December wasn't the greatest time to be making random polls lol

I watch a lot of stuff, and to don't end up felling it's too much time "wasted" sometimes I try to make it more productive by practicing drawing at the same time 😄

No one is recognizable in these fast sketches of course, but these are from the first 2 ep. of Flower of Evil, that I'm re-watching after I recommended it to a friend.

The rich looking women was done without pausing, but for the other ones I set a timer and used scenes I found interesting as gesture drawing practice.
