For when the client is doing it wrong, but you've decided to be the bigger person and deal with it anyway.
I guess the critical design flaw is that the regulator senses the output voltage over the load circuit, when a separate sensor circuit could get a more accurate reading of a distant battery with a tiny wire. Kinda makes me want to try building a rudimentary regulator that just trips a relay between the batteries & resistors.
