Good evening!
This has been a tough day. Found myself in a rage spiral because of today's events. I went for a long walk to try to burn off some of the anger.
The daffodils are a step closer to flowering so it's not all bad news βοΈ:

Sneaking all around the Fediverse. Now on Friendica (again).
Good things: bikes, brewing, fermenting, baking, growing things. Crows are cool.
**Mutuals** : I can't transfer followers from Mastodon to here so you have to manually follow me back.
Follow request folks: not sure I'm moving here but I imported my Mastodon follows because my TL was a snooze. Hello again!
Update: okay so I'm moving here. Hi!

I'm not sure if this is a settings problem, an node problem, or a Friendica problem, but I get very different search results from using the web-ui (Frio theme w/ BookFace style) and an app (Raccoon for Friendica) on the same account.
From the web-ui, unless I search for a specific account ('[email protected]'), I can only search for other Friendica users. Here's me searching for me ('@breakfastmtn'):
However, if I search using Raccoon, I can see my many other accounts across the Fediverse:
So from the web-ui, I can only discover Friendica accounts which is less than ideal. Is there a setting I'm not seeing to change this? Should I talk to my admin? Thanks in advance! π
Similar bonus problem: I never receive notifications for new follows in the web-ui. If not for the Raccoon app, I'd never know when I had a new follower. All desktop notification settings are enabled -- although it looks like the 'introduction' settings all apply to email.
Well well well the painful day turned out to be just fine.
We've had almost no downtime at all and when it's dropped it's just been for a few minutes.
Thanks @ruud for all the work you've put into this instance! Here's hoping the stability holds.
For your enjoyment, here's a dramatization of the admin taming the rogue process that was bringing us down:
The #crows have started nesting! You can see them all over the place finding the perfect sticks, clumps of soil, and bits of moss and foliage. It's hard work so toss them some peanuts or cheesies.
For most of the year they have a shared roost (in Burnaby) but in the spring they nest in their territories to lay eggs and raise the baby crows. They usually lay eggs in April, which is when they'll start dive bombing people who get too close. If you're ever getting "attacked", just give them some food - crows won't dive bomb their friends.
Once the fledglings have learned to fly and mastered crow basics, they'll all abandon the nest and return to the shared roost at night.
We moved from winter to early spring in just a few days here. Pretty sure these are daffodils. Guess we'll see in a week or two! π±π·
For #squash, I'm leaning toward growing some Tromboncino. They're super nutty and delicious and look cool. You can grow them on the ground and they'll turn into a fun, twisted mess:
Or you can trellis them and they'll grow straight and up to 6 feet long:
FUN!
