I'm really pleased to announce my latest open-source project: Vortex, a high-performance particle system generator, built for SwiftUI and compatible with iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS. https://github.com/twostraws/Vortex

@BenLumen Hey! Sure thing - sorry I don’t check in that often here, and just saw this. I’ll follow-up with a gist or code sample or something asap! I’m basically just taking the stock Spatial Photo that’s included in the visionOS simulator, copying all of its metadata, but applying my own left and right images as the base of the output HEIC. I’ll share something to you with more!

There's very little documentation about interacting with spatial video on iOS/macOS, so I wrote a little about the new APIs for reading and writing spatial video with AVFoundation:

Reading and Writing Spatial Video with AVFoundation

Making progress on my Spatial Video Converter tool - convert a Spatial Video to stereoscopic video, a stereoscopic video to a Spatial Video, or two photos to a Spatial Photo. Working on it as a native iOS, macOS, and visionOS thing. #spatialvideo #visionpro
@alexr @stroughtonsmith Sounds possible to me! I'm hopeful 1.0 (and more importantly, the hardware, lol) are on the horizon for us soon, then! I could see the device shipping with 1.0 and having 1.1 ready to download at setup (or even updated remotely in the Apple Store, as we've heard stores are capable of doing for iPhone).
@stroughtonsmith Perhaps worth mentioning that some new APIs introduced in iOS 17.2/macOS 14.2 are listed as explicitly available in "visionOS 1.1" - presumably if visionOS 1.0 was far enough out, these would have just been included in 1.0?
@JPEGuin Your work is so good!!! Looks amazing as always!
@bangzxy Glad you got it! If you need any other sample Spatial Photos or Spatial Videos, let me know!
@bangzxy You should be able to export a Spatial Photo from the Photos app on visionOS, via AirDrop, to your iPhone. Do you already have a Spatial Photo on visionOS that you want to transfer?
@whatthecj I’ll leave open that we don’t know *for sure* that Apple isn’t going to go with M3 instead of M2 for Vision Pro when it ships, but I think the device is going to deliver regardless. The specs for M3 are amazing, but I think what Apple has already shown in their AR/3D prowess, which is incredible for users when you look at something like iPad Pro, would make it (for me) impossible to not go for Vision Pro immediately.
