Reuben doing his best to look hard done by. Toys pushed out of his bed.
A day out with work colleagues to Donna Nook to see the grey seal pups. I've never been before and was amazed at just how close they get to the viewing area. Highly recommend a visit, although the seals are beginning to head back to sea. One of the benefits of working for a nature based organisation is that my entire team get excited by wildlife and want to spend time outdoors (even when subzero like today).
The drive across the snow dusted Lincolnshire Wolds was very nice too!
Descending off of a hill bathed in sparkling sunshine into a gloomy forestry plantation, there was a moment when the trees were having a disco.
On Tuesday I had an enjoyable day on the Glyderau in perfect weather. I faffed my way up Y Gribin on horribly greasy rock, over Castell y Gwynt (which I found a challenging scramble) and onto Glyder Fach. Down by the miners path with a final decent into Cwm Tryfan. It was fairly quiet on these popular hills too, an added bonus!
It rained heavily last night so I headed to Rhaeadr y Cwm this morning. The waterfall cascades in several different sections, totalling a complete fall of over 350 feet. The tallest single fall is 150 feet high. It's a bit tricky to get a good view due to the steepness of the gorge. Being on my own and due to the general slippery ground I only took a moderate risk when clambering about (there are some serious drops). It's an impressive spot.
Y Gamallt on the edge of the Migneint is a real hidden gem in Eryri National Park. It's well guarded by miles of bog, untamed heather and a long line of crags. A shame that the old fishing hut by the lake has become dilapidated, it would make a superb little bothy. A great hill day yesterday.
I really enjoyed exploring Rhiw Fachno and Rhiw-bach quarries on my walk today. They complimented the rather bleak weather. It must have been a tough life living and working up there six days a week. You can almost sense the ghosts of the past.
Old skool mountain tv. There are only three channels and you have to manually change them.
A night out at Rock City on Tuesday to see Fontaines DC. It was one giant mosh pit so I'm glad we found a safe spot up on the balcony!
#gig #rockcity #fontainesdcA long hike up Cross Fell, it had been on my bucket list for a while & was so pleased a few weeks back when I had a window of opportunity. The views from the summit did not disaspoint.
