Videos only plays for a split second - Lemmy.world

I’ve been using Revanced since it was just the CLI app and for the most part it has worked well for me(until recently). I have had an issue where the patching process finishes with no errors and installs fine, but when I open Youtube and try to play a video it stops immediately. I see the video advancedby a frame or two and hear a split second of the sound, but it stops immediately. I’m using the most up to date version of revanced with the suggested youtube apk version. I have root, but I have tried installing with and without root and tried with and without microg. Ideally I’d prefer not to use microg, because it consumes a lot of battery. I’ve tried building it many times with the default patches and even just the adblocking patches and still can’t find any combination that works. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, I do agree that it feels a little out of place on Android, but currently I have been using it because it still feels polished and I haven’t had many bugs with it. Lemmy clients in general are in their early days and many are quite rough around the edges. I’ve had a lot of bugs with most of them.

Connect for Lemmy has a Material You style to it and feels like at home on Android. It uses your current Material color scheme and feels a bit similar to Sync for Reddit.

Wefwef is my top choice right now and Connect is my second favorite.

This is one of my most wanted features, too. It is especially needed on the fediverse, because there are so many duplicate communities from different servers. It would be really nice to be able to unify those fragmented communities into one feed.

It seems that the developers of Lemmy are hard at work trying to improve the product. The huge increase in users and traffic has show some of its weak point under load. I think they are focusing on scalability and performance issues right now, so it might take some time to get to new user-facing features.

About two weeks ago they posted this: https://join-lemmy.org/news/2023-06-17_-_Update_from_Lemmy_after_the_Reddit_blackout

...which sort of touches on their progress and on improvements.

That is great news! I look forward to trying it when it is ready. I really enjoyed using Sync and was so sad that ruined their ecosystem.
This is happening on the website for me, too, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with jerboa specifically.
I have some that are also indefinitely pending. In my case, they seem to be on servers that aren't federated with the server my account is on. All communities on Beehaw.org are doing this. I am still able to post on them, but I'm not sure if they are showing on my front age or not.
That is good to hear. Do they have some sort of rubber gasket inside?

I agree that is isn't really necessary for mot people, but I do know quite a few people who use it because they know they know the phone will be safe. My partner uses her phone in the pool all the time. I'm often dripping wet after coming in from surfing, even after drying off with a towel. It is nice to be able to check my phone without worrying I'm going to mess it up.

I'm not saying it is a feature every phone needs, but it is something that some people use. I'm all for replaceable batteries and would like to see them more available. They will improve the longevity of devices as long as they aren't damaged in other ways.

For my needs, I probably need enough basic water resistance to keep rain out or moisture from wet hands, etc, but it really would be nice to have full water proofing. When I lived in a more humid climate the moisture in the air was enough to kill an old phone of mine over time.
