New, by me: A technology company that routes millions of SMS text messages across the world has secured an exposed database that was spilling one-time security codes that may have granted users’ access to their Facebook, Google and TikTok accounts.
The SMS routing company's database was connected to the internet with no password.

NEW: David Vincenzetti, the founder of spyware maker Hacking Team, has been arrested.
Vincenzetti is accused of attempted murder. He allegedly stabbed a relative at his home. A judge has ordered him to stay in prison as a precautionary measure, and has ordered a psychological evaluation, according to Italian media reports.
I'm honestly in shock. Hacking Team's story is still getting crazier, eight years after it got spectacularly hacked.
This quote from Near Intelligence, which gathered and resold data from ad exchanges is as damning as it gets:

Apple spent years trying to design a system to stop the spread of child sexual abuse material on iPhones and iCloud. When the company scrapped it, child protection investigators were frustrated. But Apple’s privacy-first approach gained plenty of fans in the process.
Investors have finally caught up to the money saving scam that is unlimited PTO and soon every company will do it.
PTO not taken is money the company literally owes the employee which is paid out in cash when they leave the company.
Unlimited PTO removes this financial liability by saying just take any work day off you like and you just get paid as normal. The reality is people take less time off in that model and tend to work during time off in that model.
