The One Issue™ every org faces remains: building a system of accountability where volunteers can consistently show up with their best work.
2026 is the year we fix this—not on our own, but by practicing what we preach: asking for help. We have a committed core who keep showing up and moving forward, no matter the setback. We know many more who wish to build a better future, but need a structure we can't (yet!) provide.
BobaBoard is looking for a Volunteer coordinator to help recruit, organize, and direct volunteers in pursuit of our mission to improve the experience of fandom communities on the web. We welcome applicants with all kinds of related experience, including experience from conventions, events, fanclubs, zine organization, and modding work. International candidates are encouraged to apply. This is a volunteer position. An ideal volunteer coordinator for this position is someone who can: act as a guiding hand to help other volunteers wranglers succeed in their work prioritize key tasks and projects to keep their team moving along make sure volunteers follow through on their obligations give feedback to volunteers when needed The right candidate would be able to maintain a clear vision of the needs of the larger organization, helping their group align and collaborate with other teams. This role may also include joining our steering team, with the opportunity to help shape organizational direction. Members of the organization will be expected to learn about sociocracy, our governance structure. You can learn more about FujoCoded LLC, the organization BobaBoard is part of, on our about page. The role may also include the facilitation of asynchronous discussions and organisation of coworking events. We welcome applicants with all kinds of related experience, including experience from conventions, events, fanclubs, zine organization, and modding work. International candidates are encouraged to apply. This is a volunteer position. Our ideal admin assistant is someone who can: Manage their own capacity: Formulate a sustainable plan of action that prioritizes the organization's most urgent needs while respecting your own time and energy. Be the team's "backup brain": Help the steering team track deadlines and commitments so nothing falls through the cracks. Anticipate roadblocks: Proactively flag potential issues before they become problems, and ensure they are surfaced and addressed. Bias towards action: Identify and implement "good enough for now, safe enough to try" solutions, even when immediate direction isn't available. Support accountability: Observe the workflows and capacity of our steering members to nudge them toward their commitments, or suggest adjustments to the team.
