Finally got around to completing the single-player campaign for EA Motive’s excellent ‘Star Wars: Squadrons’. Really enjoyed this game, especially the astonishingly detailed ships (inside and out), exciting space combat and entertaining story. It certainly brought back fond memories of LucasArts’ legendary X-Wing and TIE Fighter games from the ‘90s. Highly recommended. #StarWars #StarWarsSquadrons
Ended up being rather disappointed by Amazon’s ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power’. Yes, it was visually stunning, but with the exception of the excellent Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, the acting was woeful. Add in a decidedly sub-par script, an uninteresting & predictable plot and you have a fantastical snooze-a-thon. Not really what I expected from one of the most expensive television shows in history… #TheLordOfTheRings #TheRingsOfPower #Galadriel
Completed and thoroughly enjoyed ‘TOEM’, a short, but delightful photography-based adventure on the PS5, developed by Something We Made. Loved the cartoon art style and the diorama-like maps, packed with a wealth of interesting characters and photographic opportunities. A highly recommended, charming puzzler. #TOEM
Finally made it through the long slog that was season 7 of ‘Fear The Walking Dead’. Despite a strong start, this season quickly descended into a mess of gaping plot holes, illogical scenarios and excruciatingly drawn out narratives. Not entirely sure the return of a beloved character can rescue this show, but I suppose I’ll be back for what I expect will be the final season. Disappointing. #FearTheWalkingDead #FTWD
Have now acquired the platinum trophy for both the PS5 version of ‘The Last Of Us Part I’ and the PS4 version of ‘The Last Of Us Part II’. Absolutely adore both of these games and can’t wait to watch the television series from tomorrow! #TheLastOfUs #TheLastOfUsPartI #TheLastOfUsPartII #PlayStation
Really enjoyed my play-through of ‘Escape Academy’ from Coin Crew Games. The puzzles were varied and challenging, requiring both logical and creative thinking. Although the narrative wasn’t as absorbing as the puzzles, overall this was an entertaining experience. Recommended. #EscapeAcademy #EscapeRoom
Completed and thoroughly enjoyed Jumpship’s puzzle adventure game, ‘Somerville’. Whilst not up to the incredibly high standards of the studio co-founder’s previous games, ‘Limbo’ and ‘Inside’, there was much to enjoy. I particularly loved the unique visual style and minimalist sound design, as well as the intriguing story. Not quite out of this world, but definitely an extraterrestrial treat. Recommended. #Somerville
Have been disappointed by the recent monthly offerings from Xbox’s Games with Gold, but ‘Iris Fall’ certainly bucked this trend. A visually stunning and extremely memorable puzzler, NExT Studios’ game is definitely worth a play-through. There are more than a few taxing problems to solve, but the audio/visual delights of overcoming them are well worth the effort. Highly recommended. #IrisFall
Finally completed and thoroughly enjoyed my rewatch of the first two seasons of ‘The Mandalorian’ in preparation for the show’s return in March 2023. Also completed my build of the LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter to go alongside the Razor Crest. Ending the year with so much Mando goodness… #ThisIsTheWay #TheMandalorian #LEGOStarWars #StarWars #LEGO
It just wouldn’t be Christmas without yet another viewing of Joe Dante’s classic black comedy horror, ‘Gremlins’! I’m always amazed that this movie was released on the very same day in North America as ‘Ghostbusters’. What a weekend to visit the cinema in 1984! #Gremlins
