@satsuma @bomkatt At my school in the 90s a kid had a wrist watch that had such an off button built in and he used it to annoy teachers when they were trying to show video. The teachers thought the TV was damaged and switched itself off all the time.
@Jaqspur That triggers a vague memory of some sort of cartoon villain with a floppy brain and goggles. I'm unable to remember more or find anything about it with Google.

Google's emissions are up over 50%, Amazon builds huge data centers powered by 75% natural gas.

Remember all those posts telling us that "AIs climate impact isn't that bad" supported by some really funky math/perspective and/or numbers Sam Altman invented?

Here's the actual impact.

At Amazon’s Biggest Data Center, Everything Is Supersized for A.I.

On 1,200 acres of cornfield in Indiana, Amazon is building one of the largest computers ever for work with Anthropic, an artificial intelligence start-up.

@jacqueline If it would be easy to create an AoT compiled statically linked binary with Java it would do. Gradle is horrible, IMO. Only C/C++ or JavaScript build systems are worse.

@tony @edgeofeurope @BRicker Also Thing is usually (but not always!) a right hand, but that is now nit picking.
@tony @edgeofeurope @BRicker Thing also has 5 fingers and both, the Tintin comics and the old Adams Family comics seem to have 5 finger hands. But yes, it's about consistency and not weather its 4 or 5 fingers.
