@meetar come out to Nelson! It's nice here. 😊

@meetar the forecasts here have been only slightly better than random. Last night's forecast was for 4cm, we got solidly 25cm. Tonight's is for 1cm, so I'm expecting 10.

Last week there was a forecast for 15cm, we got 2cm and then the promised snow arrived but a day late. I'm beginning to think that we don't really know anything! 🙃

This is getting silly. 🤪

@sonjah @Rik so good!
@tylerharper thanks for publishing Greg's column. Like Greg, I believe our community can be better than it's shown itself to be. I'm grateful that we've got good journalists (you!) who are committed to sharing people's stories that shine a light on ways that we're failing and that challenge us to be better. ❤️

That's before any rental income, so the $500k/unit is a lowball number. I don't see a lot of verbiage around trying to bring the construction costs down, so contractors will naturally be incentivized to spend the maximum amount per unit that they can while still receiving the funding. That doesn't feel right? Maybe I'm missing something. 🤷‍♀️ #bcpoli

I'm still stoked about the moves the government are doing towards helping the housing situation. Maybe $500k/unit is just where we're at. 🫣

It's great that the feds and the province are committing so much towards the BC Builds program. The one part that I'm a bit uneasy about is that it feels as much like a hand-out to developers as it is a helping hand to middle-income renters.

If my numbers are right, they've committed roughly $5 billion to the program with a goal of building up to 10,000 new rental units. That works out to *$500k per unit* average construction cost for presumably highish-density multi-unit residential. 😳 #bcpoli

@TheresaReason 100%

It was wild to me to realize that drop-in clinic visits were still possible in Vancouver with an average wait time of 30 minutes. Really puts into perspective the rural/urban divide.

@TheresaReason I'm all for doctors (and, really, everyone) having flexibility in their work schedules, but the fact that doctors have the right to pick-and-choose who their patients are makes me angrier than I can describe. I know way too many people who got doctors because their kids are friends with the doctor's kids. Meanwhile, people with serious chronic health conditions rely on the ER.

The community health clinics will be a good step forward, but doctors need to learn to cooperate. (🤬😅)
