Linux nerd since the age of nine and don't know how to stop. Probably going to end up running Slackware and Gentoo.

@matrixoflies @shellkr 🤷‍♂️ If your definition of strength is not enjoying things, then I guess, yeah.
@matrixoflies @shellkr As long as yt allows me to access their videos on my terms, I will watch the people I want to watch. As soon as they don't, I'm not shedding any tears about it.
@shellkr @matrixoflies I use a home made bash script that scrapes just the videos that I want to watch from youtube and downloads them to my computer, so I don't even need to worry about a front end like Invidious.
@shellkr @matrixoflies I try to use PeerTube most of the time, but some particular channels that I watch on youtube haven't switched yet. I don't care enough to actually GO on youtube, but I would still LIKE to see their videos.
@matrixoflies Legally, I can neither confirm nor deny my involvement with any possible lua implementations of a generic online video downloader.

@matrixoflies > on this point
Very important qualifier, and I think he'd agree 😂

And yeah, I don't RELY on any one technology, and it is why I use open source. I have really bad luck with computers, so I'd prefer that, if everything is going to brake on me, I at least have the option of reaching into the source code to fix it.

.
The youtube-dl DMCA takedown isn't making me think about actually using my Google account. It's just making me decide weather I want to write my own implementation from ffmpeg and awk or, if I can't get youtube-dl reasonably, if I just want to not watch videos that are hosted on youtube.
@amolith Scream. Watch the Scream movies, they are amazing for both people that like horror and people that don't like to be too too scared.

@amolith What subgenre of horror movie do guys enjoy? My family has a cavalcade of horror movies, so I know a lot of good ones.

The first 10 ones that come to mind, not in any order, are Dead Silence, The Decent, Evil Dead (The new one), Children of the Corn, Population 436, The Ring, Nosferatu, and of course, the Scream movies are always a fun time with friends.
