Today, Saturday 28th February, is the final day of QueerAF's crowdfunder. QueerAF is a groundbreaking LGBTQIA+-run journalism outlet that consistently breaks stories that play into the UK's national conversation - one dominated, in the mainstream media, by newspapers deeply hostile to us as a community and particularly to trans people. They're just 14% away from hitting their final target, and there are rewards. Please share! #LGBTQIA

Re: that last boost on health supremacism, if you've already read as many articles as Medium allows you this month, you can also see the article where it originally appeared, here: https://indoxicate.me/dont-be-a-health-supremacist/
It's an important one to me and one I'm grateful to have been directed to, because I've had to deal with this mentality in my personal life as well as *gestures wildly* in politics in general, and Iive been dealing with further outworkings of that this week in therapy, sol.... yeah.
Loathe Fascism? Then don't be a health supremacist

Those who are not faithful to principles become open to evil, to have evil done to them or to do evil themselves — Pramoedya Ananta Toer Health supremacism is an ideology. Supremacist thinking always starts with an imaginary division of the world into supposedly ‘superior’ and ‘inferior’ people. Health supremacism is

Britain doesn't really make sense as a country until you understand that nobody in power really gives a fuck about disabled people.

As a result I discovered possibly the most negatively named place in England. Not only is it Not Grove, it's got an Unnamed Road! Pure etymological chaos on those streets.

Seems a bit of an odyssey to reach the nearest Grove on foot, though the naming suggests they might prefer... not to.

While opening Google Maps for something else, accidentally fell into the Southwest of England and reinvigorated my tiny hobby of enjoying English placenames.

Today: Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter (it would feel unbalanced to have just one).

But I also discovered Notgrove, which made me wonder how far it was from the nearest Grove, and whether it had been named in a fit of pique...

Re: that last boost, what people sometimes forget is that in the UK we have the legal right to go missing. It's not a crime to fuck off out of a bad life situation, though an awful lot of people do it because other people's crimes have gone undealt with. This org's valuable work is germane here: https://www.missingpeople.org.uk/

We have to be careful of how the more heart-rending use cases for this app will be used to justify really sinister overreach in other contexts.

Sinn Fein are just an absolute shower of lying wankers. At the end of the day, they and the DUP have more in common with each other than either does with most of the people who are voting them in. It's about whose interests get served.

Not even starting on their craven, hypocritical role in the puberty blockers ban, but I don't want to see those fuckers, or Alliance, near Pride in 2025. We're not a fucking PR laundering opportunity for fake progressive parties.

I always enjoy hearing about Rod Stewart's train set, though calling this a train set is a bit like calling the Louvre a picture album.

They then use that as a reason to cut the service altogether, and meanwhile people are no longer able to justify living in the area because they can't get in to work by bus and yet can't afford to drive.

What if we had twice as many train services per hour into the city? Is that do-able from a rail safety perspective? It'd at least cut down on people driving in from e.g. the Bangor and Lisburn directions...

One of the problems with public transport UK-wide is that there is huge resistance to running buses with smaller numbers of passengers.

I get that below a certain number you do have to question whether the emissions are worth it and whether fuel cost is covered. But it still becomes a chicken-and-egg situation because transport companies say 'not enough peolpe use this bus' and reduce the service, which immediately causes falling passenger numbers cos it no longer works for people.
