I did read the article. This was a branding by the USB-IF for previous generation meant to be an example of the lunacy that is this group. Meant for engineers or not it was still dumb. The new standards are no better with passives vs active, asymmetric transmissions, etc. and then on top of all this is the thunderbolt designations that I’m still not sure what they all mean with respect to the USB standards.

Just last week I was trying to hook two Mac studios together using the new RDMA features in 26.4 and had to special order cables because none of the ones I had worked (well they “worked” … just not as fast as they should have)

How about we have a president that doesn’t start random shit to distract us?

USB 3.2 doubles down on this confusion. 5Gb/s devices are now “USB 3.2 Gen 1.” 10Gb/s devices become “USB 3.2 Gen 2.” And 20Gb/s devices will be… “USB 3.2 Gen 2×2.”

No idea why…

Very liberal here and grew up in WV. Father was card carrying NRA. It was tradition in my family that you got a gun on your 10th birthday (a Ruger 10/22, not like an AR-15). We were taught very early about hunting, gun safety, and proper handling of a firearm. Don’t really own one right now … wife was very much against them with children in the house. She was never really exposed to them which is a large reason why. Although my step-son is also very liberal and a cop so there is that.

I’ve considered getting a firearm recently for lots of obvious reasons. Likely a handgun but I’d really like a long gun. I was pretty accurate when I was younger.

I imagine there are lots more like me than people realize.

I played the hell out of this game on my commodore.
She must have gotten stuck in the washing machine.
What kind of dog is this ?
It’s why I cancelled SiriusXM a while back. I’m paying for the service so atop playing ads. And at the time it was like the same ad over and over. God it was infuriating.

It all has to do with how the brain responds to and produces dopamine.

For example sleep deprivation alters dopamine receptors and signalling, which is thought to be one reason people feel temporarily “wired” or oddly alert after being very sleep-deprived.

I imagine it’s related to that.

Damn I haven’t laughed this hard at a post in a long time.
