Thor the cat knows I’m not the same as the other things in the flat. When he looks at a robot the way he looks at me, then I’ll believe we have AGI. (Image is a Bengal cat looking suspiciously at the person behind the camera)
Morning. Coffee. The image is a Caffè Nero espresso macchiato in a proper cup, and a pain au raisin on a circular table. In the background is the porter’s lodge of King’s College. Bill, behind the camera, is thinking about the future of publishing. Come by.
If you cut it into small squares we could send each one separatelhy and put the whole cake back at the other end.. as long as nobody eats one
First coffee early on a folkestone morning and waiting for the delights BBC's Elizabeth Alker will bring on Radio3 as I try to catch up on emails. Hope she hasn't been squeezed out of her usual studio by the visitors here for the 6 Music Festival
Our tree, made of driftwood from Folkestone beach arranged to conjure the dream of a tree, using a bent coat hanger, around 20cm high, with small baubles, a string of white LEDs, an embroidered stocking with a K, topped with a yellow felt angel (if you don’t look too carefully). Lego Bunsen and Beaker at the base, controlling the lights. It stands on a raffia mat on a wooden table.
Lovely to see @andypiper yesterday at Newspeak. And look what I got! (Image shows a MacBook case with three stickers, one of them a Mastodon logo, the other two BBC event stickers)
Great to hear @ruchowdh dissect responsible AI practice at the launch of the BRAID network https://braiduk.org in BBC Radio Theatre (image shows Dr Chowdhury at lectern under blue lighting being introduced by @ShannonVallor )

‘Bill is asymptomatically approaching caffeine saturation, confronted by two blank pages’ (a dark brown espresso cup, a ‘laptop free zone’ sign, Cambridge Imprint notebook, opened, and a ball point pen sit on a wooden table supported only by electromagnetic repulsion)
Re-reading Philosophical Investigations after 30 years as I think about generative AI. Visited Wittgenstein and Anscombe yesterday (well… their graves) (image is a book, out of focus. Behind is a thin window looking out at the green dale, set in a stone wall of an old cottage.)
And breathe.. (image is a moorside with sheep, between two stone cottages, in the Yorkshire Dales. A red phone box, a dry stone wall, a book and a whisky (neither pictured))
