@ernie The change in bird length makes his barely recognisable. I love how realistic that is.
How about bragging that you found your new job on Mastodon? Our Wageningen group is hiring an assistant + an associate professor. Most of what we do is related to "science and society" with critical perspectives on international development, environment, agriculture, technology & innovation. Plus, it's a lovely group of people https://www.wur.nl/nl/vacature/assistant-professors-knowledge-technology-and-innovation-tenure-track-1.htm https://www.wur.nl/nl/vacature/associate-professor-knowledge-technology-and-innovation-tenure-track-1.htm

@mmasnick Best explanation I have is a Turkish SciFi show on Netflix called "Hot Skull." It's decent SciFi, gritty, but not a reasonable explanation for Mark.
@mmasnick One detail I'm sure every journalist noticed, but no one was foolish enough to highlight: Musk said this was his private address, something no one has claimed. He outed himself.
@aral Ok, so you advocate for something aligned with, but distinct or rather more decentralised than the Fediverse.
@anildash @mmasnick I think we should call it the "Anil Dash" effect. There will be just enough ambiguity as to whether Anil was explaining or being explained to, and it will drive him red…
@aral Do you think that Mastodon is more like a public park, or many private places where people can see each other? Bans are more frequent here because owners of small instances are more opinionated. Large commercial platforms have wide principles and teams that are expected to enforce them sparingly — they wouldn’t reach the scale needed to be profitable otherwise. Same for a large mall: you rarely get told off, at least if you look like you are spending money.
@dataandpolitics There's an interesting implication (that has been true for a while but is more explicit here than ever) that access to a private platform is a right that should be moderated with quasi-legal principles, habeas-corpus notification, appeal, etc.
Hello, if you want amazing, free, inspirational real-world talks on ML today, I cannot recommend #normconf enough. Yes, I spoke earlier, but now that I'm relaxed and watching, it is just fab. Real. Talk. #ml #ai https://normconf.com/
Normconf

Normconf is the tech conference about all the stuff that matters in data and machine learning, but doesn't get the spotlight

@Riedl I haven’t checked explicitly, but if a CS professor has published coding challenges involving reference diagrams, they most likely are expressed as mermaid graphs, and available on GitHub/GitLab where GPT would have seen them.
