Likes Ruby. Makes Feedbin.
@dlx weird question but are the teeth brighter on your avatar than other white on the screen or am I crazy? If so how are you doing that? HDR magic?
@joeldrapper liking the look & feel of Component Kits. Have you decided if they’ll stick around long term? (+1 from me if you’re still thinking about it).
Tomorrow is the tenth anniversary of the end of Google Reader. So I tried to figure out what went wrong, and wound up with a story about a better social internet we could have had and instead threw into the trash https://www.theverge.com/23778253/google-reader-death-2013-rss-social
How Google Reader died — and why the web misses it more than ever

Google killed Reader in 2013, shutting down its RSS reader after years of neglect. Now, the team that built it reflects on what they made and how the web has changed in the decade since.

I'm a longtime customer of Feedbin (https://feedbin.com) – initially for RSS, and then for email newsletters, Twitter searches, YouTube channels (RSS), and most recently, high-value Mastodon accounts (https://feedbin.com/blog/2023/01/05/mastodon-and-microposts/).

thanks to Feedbin, nothing that is or should be "pull" media ever touches my email inbox.

today, I used Feedbin's sharing (https://feedbin.com/help/sharing-read-it-later-services/) to let me view an RSS entry in Archive.today, Google Cache, or Wayback Machine without copying and pasting the URL:

A fast, simple RSS feed reader that delivers a great reading experience.

Feedbin now has some nice improvements and features for Mastodon feeds: https://feedbin.com/blog/2023/01/05/mastodon-and-microposts/
Mastodon & Microposts

Nice p95 performance increase for web traffic from upgrading Feedbin to ruby 3.2 yesterday. Surprisingly little difference with yjit turned on though. The blue and purple lines are identically configured servers. Blue = yjit, purple = no yjit.
@getajobmike Love mintiest. I guess I'm basic and comfortably ignorant about what it's missing. Every time I open a _spec it's like opening a portal to some bizzaro-world where everything must be wrapped in several layers of indirection and abstraction.
