I sent my kids to an infant school that didn’t have uniforms. Did it impact their ability to read or work out sums? Not in the slightest! Was it easier to manage the washing with twins? Hell yes! Kids aged 4 to 7 get grubby as soon as they get dressed. Uniforms restrict play - which is vital to education at that age. But even when they are older, what does a uniform actually do to kids? Introduce groupthink I think rather than discipline.
Every so often Music has a sync failure and dupes a bunch of my playlists by adding a 1 on the end. Turns out it's not appending, but incrementing...

Would quite like tips on how to get trainees to participate in zoom sessions. They are, I think, interested - homework is done on time and clearly some effort goes into it - but live sessions are always turning into a monologue or volunteering people semi randomly and having them freeze, even when I know for a fact they know the answer. It can’t be *just* that I’m terrifying.
The people who glue themselves to streets or choose other peaceful forms of protest to remind us to act now against the catastrophe that is climate change are in the right. That’s what makes some of you so angry at them. You have a bad conscience.

Following the effective strike by #firearms officers in the Metropolitan #Police over one of their colleagues being chased with the murder of #ChrisKaba, we have a situation where the #army is 'supporting' the police in the counter-terrorism activities.

So, the firearms officers think they are above the law, the #Tories seeming interest in service level requirements doesn't seem to apply to armed officers, and we now have the army on the streets.

And this would by the #lawandorder party????

I don't know if it could be any clearer...

I've come back to how the word "redistribution" frames economic improvement as a transfer from one group of individuals to another.

But I'm quite sure much better would be to move a lot of individually owned stuff in to the commons.

Land, drug patents, software, communications platforms, transport systems, our town squares, our leisure spaces, our infrastructure for health, energy, water, warmth, teaching …

I don't know if this is helpful to anyone else, or really obvious to everyone already. But I feel I want to put the needs of just about everyone, that computers support beneficial communication, ahead of my particular needs.

But I don't think that is where our computers, powered onwards by a capitalist society, are generally heading.
