Professor of Law and Emerging Technologies, late early adopter, and ironically working on the problems inherent to regulating social media.

from @micahflee, about twitter's recent ban of antifascist activist @chadloder.

elon specifically asked andy ngo to send him "antifa accounts" that should be suspended. chad loder was banned shortly after. ngo had previously tried to have loder suspended from twitter, and had even become involved in a legal battle to try to force them to stop reporting on a January 6 insurrectionist.

Elon Musk appears to have outsourced decisions about who to ban from Twitter to the platform’s right-wing extremists, like Andy Ngo.

I really need to start using this thing.
@stephlamy @Sina @stilldelvingh @potemkinvillage @wendysiegelman true, I guess as a legal academic, my initial thought is ‘how do we set up governance structures to deal with X’ :)
Food $200
Data $150
Rent $800
Twitter $44 billion
Utility $150
Can someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. My platform is dying.
@Sina @stilldelvingh @potemkinvillage @wendysiegelman I think fuzzier definitions are probably the way to go, as one of the big things about disinformation techniques are their adaptability and malleability. If we get too locked in to a particular definition or approach, it becomes very challenging from a regulatory perspective. Still, excessively fuzzy or broad and then it risks capturing things like satire - regulating based on intent a nightmare!
@jackiegardina I should mention that we’ve just started our own LLM in Law and Emerging Technologies, which is designed to give an interdisciplinary understanding of regulatory challenges, so I suspect there may be a lot of room for collaboration if there is interest!
@jackiegardina sounds like a great idea! :)
@roxanav feels like both my teaching notes AND my research notes get torn up and started again every five minutes right now.
