What I always a find fascinating is the proportion of deficit to government income.

In the case of the US 🇺🇸, the deficit amounts to a full 28% of federal revenue.

As a proportion to GDP, it's obviously much smaller (about 5.5% in 2022).

In 10 years, the median age in China will be higher than in Europe.

In 50 years, it will be higher than in Japan - or almost anywhere in the world.

That's how we're freezing in Europe around Christmas this year.

This is truly great, but we also have to be honest - there’s a practical difference between installed capacity of fossil fuel power plants and renewables.

For solar and wind, we need 2-3x times as much capacity for a similar annual output (even if we ramp up battery capacity).

That’s okay, because they are vastly better for the planet, the environment, our health and also getting cheaper by the day.

But it’s important to keep in mind for comparison’s sake.
