To comply with Google, all Fediverse instance owners need to pay Google and have they user accounts managed by the Play Store.

Non-Google approved accounts are NOT allowed on your own instance(s) unless you wait 24 hours and watch our non-skippable scare tactic warnings.

See, the thing about AI is that there are people who assume that it's all of a sudden going to make someone who doesn't care good at something

That's really not true

If you don't care about writing, it's not going to write well

If you don't care about good software, it's not going to make good software

If you've got no taste, it's not going to suddenly give it to you

You may have noticed that activity on the public Log4cxx, Log4j, and Log4net repositories has slowed since December 2025. I want to reassure you that the projects are still being actively monitored...

Today in InfoSec Job Security News:

I was looking into an obvious ../.. vulnerability introduced into a major web framework today, and it was committed by username Claude on GitHub. Vibe coded, basically.

So I started looking through Claude commits on GitHub, there’s over 2m of them and it’s about 5% of all open source code this month.

https://github.com/search?q=author%3Aclaude&type=commits&s=author-date&o=desc

As I looked through the code I saw the same class of vulns being introduced over, and over, again - several a minute.

I suppose we're not supposed to ask where the information in these proprietary machine learning models came from.
