If you wonder why I fiercely think today's actions in Venezuela are foolish, I strongly advice you to read the history of Mohammad Mosaddegh and Hugo Chávez. How, and why, both rose to power in their respective nations.

They are just two examples of many others that demonstrate why what has been done will ultimately backfire.

I'm not even going to point out Afghanistan and Iraq as two other prime examples where intervention backfire spectacularly.
