I would feel incredibly patriotic if Trump got imprisoned for murder because he ordered the killing of people in boats near Venezuela. Everyone deserves due process, even drug smugglers and presidents. No one is above the law.

@esparta @heycaseywattsup ideally the commons requires no intervention, but in practice the government needs to actively protect the commons from being enclosed by private interests.

Lakes and water ways in Oregon are public land, they're in the commons. But the city of Lake Oswego let private property owners restrict access to the lake it's named after, because there was no public land allowing access to everyone. A judge recently ruled that this was illegal and forced the city to allow access

@heycaseywattsup @esparta nationalization? Where a private industry becomes government run
@zkat At no point does Hollow Knight explain how to bounce with your nail, but there are still parts that rely on that skill. one option is to get your game in front of people and see what they struggle with, then add something that explains that aspect.
@Raccoon I worry that this is dangerously close to "markets will take care of people". It's not sufficient to simply give disabled folks money. They still need legal protection and assistance beyond what profit driven markets will provide. We've seen it before, capitalism leaves disabled folks behind.
I wish more people who are worried about FOSS supply side attacks would realize that universal basic income and free healthcare would result in an almost infinite stream of excellent software from people who care more about quality than profit.
My friend is a car person and while talking about engines I had this epiphany thanks to @TechConnectify
I feel like I’ve read this before…
@cferdinandi the latest COVID policy is ... somewhat at odds with scientific consensus, in a way that will lead to more infections than the previous policy. Therefore more death and disability resulting from infection. Basically social murder.
