My current sunday project: Testing out VMWare Fusion 13 on my Mac M1. It seems not too bad.
Getting to know debian netinst.

But, while eating my breakfast behind my computer, I look outside. It is cold (-4C) but dry, and quiet. I think I rather head out for a walk to our allotment garden. Putting the kitchen waste on our compost heap. Maybe bringing back a bottle of rainwater for our plants. Breathing the fresh air, getting my blood flowing.
Have a great sunday everyone!
Omg, there's a button in my web interface that enables me to hide boosts?! I LOVE THIS!
I know I will miss a lot of content. But what remains is people's thoughts.
(Although Metallica would disagree ;-) )

Hello @motungator, welcome to the fediverse 🙂
Feedback or suggestions for a better css are welcome 🙂
My sunday geekery: I recently switched from #emacs and #org to #obsidian. I love it and it suits my brain better.
I also wanted to blog with it. The obsidian-wordpress plugin was not what I needed. I finally found #swiki, a very simple python script, with which I can create a static site.
Only markdown converted to html, my own css, no javascript, self-hosted. I used rsync to copy my files over to my virtual private server.
If you're interested, have a peek. Still WIP

I did not know you could verify your own website! It was easy as pie with help of this post:

https://barrd.dev/article/add-a-verified-website-to-your-mastodon-account-using-link-tag/

A website by @barrd

Found it via @NomadSkateboarding

Add a verified website to your Mastodon account using link tag : barrd.dev

Add a verified website section to your Mastodon profile with the green box and a verified tick using a link tag in the head.

Browsing @barrd 's excellent website I found
https://barrd.dev/article/apple-mac-easily-accessible-folder-for-screenshots/
I did not know you could start the screenshot application with shift+cmd+5! Also, to change the default folder for screenshots from Desktop to something better...why did I not think of this before?
You can learn something new everyday :- )

So let's try an experiment.
A post I recently boosted, with no explanation at all.

What captivated me was the picture of this beautiful crow. If this works, I'll try this instead of boosting. Makes it so much more personal, in my mind.

Attached: 1 image Intro post: I'm a professor of #Biology at the #UniversityOfWashington. My training is in #EvolutionaryBiology, #BehavioralEcology, #PopulationGenetics, and #Epidemiology. I did lots of work in #Bibliometrics and #NetworkTheory. I teach #DataLiteracy. These days I spend a lot of time thinking about the spread of #Misinformation, the #ScienceOfScience, and #PhilosophyOfScience. I do a lot of #BirdPhotography and love #ravens, #crows, and all #corvids. For your trouble, here's a perfect crow.

Also, I'm thinking about what made Mastodon special for me. Yes the lack of algorithm, but also the feeling that there was a small community that got to talk with each other.
I think for me that is much more valuable than just spamming the latest hype. This is probably not fair to extravert people, and I don't mean to offend. In the voice of Elvis: a little more conversation a little less action please. All this crossposting and boosting aint satisfactioning me. ;- )
I noticed yesterday that I was becoming anxious using Mastodon.
But why? What has changed?
1st, the advanced web interface gives me too much information.
So I disbled that again.
Second, I noticed some peeps I follow who post several times per hour (!). Often single thoughts, missing a verb or just boosts. Again TMI. I unfollowed some. I know that I can mute them, but what difference is that to me.
Lastly, I would like to be able to not see boosts. Especially boosts of crossposted twitter posts
