I don’t know how far this will reach and my apologies for not using a CW tag (I don’t know how in @ivory to do that) but social security payments don’t just affect the elderly.
I’m a widower and my kids get social security survivor benefits from my wife. If social security stops, we’ll be ok but millions of kids who’ve lost parents won’t be.
One thing I miss about mastodon vs twitter is that, for me, I had a really nice list of people I follow how did a great job of surfacing the relevant news of the day. Twitter was the way I kept on top of the news.
I don’t have that here even though I’ve followed as many of them as I can.
I’m objectively less informed now than I was over there and I’m pretty bummed about that.

Jonathan MannMy son, who's 8, created this level for me in Geometry Dash.
It uses an 8bit version of Still Alive by @JonathanCoulton (a song he knows I love). He painstakingly added all the lyrics, word by word, even making his own Aperture Science Logo in-game.
I am so proud.
After almost 3 years of dodging it, covid finally caught me. It sucks. I hope my kids don’t get it - it would spoil a big part of their winter break.
