Did you know that the famous quote from Apollo 13, "Houston, we have a problem" is not actually what they said. It's close to the real thing, but they actually said:

"Okay, Houston ... I believe we've had a problem here."

Update: I have put the code on github: https://github.com/Baekdal/Bird-ID-detector-like-MerlinID/
GitHub - Baekdal/Bird-ID-detector-like-MerlinID: The Merlin Bird ID is great, but it has one major flaw. When it's recording audio to detect the birds, stores that file. This create a privacy problem because it means it's also recording everything else, including you. This Python script solves that by streaming the audio instead. The audio is this never saved, but you still get to known the birds

The way this technically works is that it creates 3 second audio recordings, with a one second overlap, which is then saved to a temporary directory. It then passes those files, detect the birds, and immediately deletes the audio file. This means that the audio is only stored for the time it takes to process them, meaning each file will be created an deleted again within 4 seconds.
Here is something slightly geeky. I have a lot of birds in my garden, and I have been using an smartphone app called Merlin Bird ID to detect which birds it is. However, this app has one major flaw which is that it actually creates audio recordings (instead of just streaming the audio). This means that it is also recording everything I say, etc. That's not cool. So I just created an app that does the same, but doesn't store the audio at all.

Not one major American news organization has had the spine to lay out, as succinctly and convincingly as historian Garrett Graff does here, our dread new reality -- much less lift a finger to save democracy.

The United States has gone fascist.

America Tips Into Fascism

Today is different than before.

Doomsday Scenario
Here is something crazy... I bought a pallet of birds seeds about 6 months ago and the birds in my garden has now eaten all of it...

1. What my daughter posted on Instagram.

2. What Instagram put over her post.

Heh... I asked ChatGPT to make all the people smaller in a bigger crowd (hoping to make it more difficult to spot Waldo/Wally ... and... I mean ... ;)
Can you find Waldo? ;)

I asked a good friend of mine, who is a bit of a cycling expert, about my exercise bike setup... and his conclusion was: "Your setup doesn’t make sense; your power transfer is quite poor – it needs to be moved much further forward." :)

However, I also have the wrong saddle (it doesn't fit my sit bones, which is the main reason why I cannot get it to work the way I want to. So, new saddle it is...

@baekdal Yeah, that setup would definitely translate to an.. interesting geometry, if it was replicated on a normal road bike πŸ˜„

Nice procrastinating πŸ˜‚

@baekdal We have invented gel padded seats, they are much nicer than that misery seat you have there πŸ˜†
