If the text message has a 'short' link in it DO NOT CLICK THE LINK. This may be bit.ly or something else that you don't recognise.
Instead, go to a site like wheregoes.com to look at where the link goes. It's pretty obvious for example that this one that's apparently for a parking ticket unpaid is dodgy as hell...
