Yeah, my last phone was one of the Galaxy phones with the hardware locked bootloader. I should’ve looked a bit harder when choosing my current phone for one with a bit more open source support, but I think I’ll be pretty happy once I can get Lineage running.
This article states the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the latest Snapdragon chip, does not support non-protected VMs. This doesn’t seem to be a feature taking a while to be implemented, they’ve made the deliberate decision not to add support for this, just as other vendors have decided the opposite.

Neat, I might have to try this out the next time I pull out my Chromebook. I did use it for a while when my desktop was out of commission, and this was the biggest issue I ran into. Had to dial YouTube videos down to 240p to get decent playback.
I bought my current phone, a Motorola Moto G Stylus (2025), because I of its hardware support. It has E-SIM plus a physical SIM slot, SD card support, and a headphone jack. The one downside is not having any custom firmware builds available. I’m hoping that changes in the near future.
It pretty regularly goes on sale for 50% off. I’d never played it before, so I bought it at that price.

Bluetooth beacons are what you call these. There’s a few different app-based solutions, all of them proprietary as far as I’m aware, that connect to their brand of beacon regardless of its owner in order to update its position on the map. I feel like this should be possible to do in some way in an open manner, but I’d also be concerned about the security implications behind something like this. I wouldn’t want everyone to see where all of my most irreplaceable items are, after all.
