I am a fan of playing in puzzling rooms with locks and doors for sport. In fact I am an author of such rooms, at a company known as Trivium.

I also am fond of cats.

Miao miao, I’m two cats
Circumstants
Occasionally if I'm stroking cat B, B just turns too snuggly to contain, and so this cat starts butting and nuzzling into my hand or a chair arm or a post or floor or anything that is at hand

I’m laid up today with a stomach bug. My gf had this two days ago so I know my path; today’s gross but it’ll mostly go away by tomorrow.

I’ll go back to snoozing now

I spent the last two months as lead making one of a few puzzle/game stations for a corporate client. This station is a TV production console (the party theme was 1970's TV studio).

It's inspired by Spaceteam, but with a big difference: asymmetry! Only one player - the director - can easily see what the team has to do.

Some of the tasks are simply operate at widget like in Spaceteam. Others are more complex to perform (routing a signal through a wire maze, or finding and cuing up a sound effect from a “tape”), and others still are more complex to communicate (set an array of controls to a particular configuration).

This plus a few medium-complexity controls for the director let us tune the game to balance how busy the director is vs the other players, and it worked great! People had a lot of fun playing it, and there was no consensus on which role was the most difficult.

We made two of them for throughput reasons, and getting it done by the event was a huge push, but I'm thrilled with how it came out!

Go stick your noggin in a pig
I always think “no I won’t do injudicious gluing again” but who am I fooling?
Always, if this occurs, I first worry “oh no I am sick with a cold, flu, or covid” as symptoms only show up 12h post-gluing which is so long my brain can’t think back and know why I got this going on. This is not as bad as contagious options, thankfully! And I know it will go away in a coupla days. Sniffly days tho.
Oh no! I was using CA (cyanoacrylatic bonding) to stick stuff to stuff but it wasn’t much and I thought I could do it without an air filtration mask. Nah, I shoulda known; if I do that, on following days my nasal flow will run and I’ll say “achoo” in fits. This is a condition that folks can do, similar to cats or pollination dust but with CA
