Fascism produces spectators, those who are drawn to watch and feel as if *watching* is doing something. People assemble into audiences where they can remain fixated upon and outraged by what appears on screen, and thus are spared from having to think and decide what must be done.

This is almost too perfect. After countless engineering hours, untold resources, and trillions of $ in investment culminate in the disappointment that is GPT-5, Altman desperately scrambles to assure us that AI will be a net positive for humanity despite the bullshit machine he’s just released, and no sooner than he posts this, it immediately elicits the standard response that the use of these machines promotes.
