Astro-COLIBRI v2.22.0 is live!

We’re excited to share the latest improvements to the Astro-COLIBRI platform. Here’s what’s new in version 2.22.0: 🌞 Sun & Moon Positions Following several requests (e.g. Sun and Moon on the map) you can now display the Sun and Moon positions on the sky map. Activate them in the “Map & coordinates settings” A new API endpoint /celestial_position provides access to their positions in both celestial and local coordinates. 🌌 Well-Localized GRBs We’ve added a new notif...

A coincidence between a high-energy neutrino and a gamma-ray burst??

https://forum.astro-colibri.science/t/neutrino-grb-coincidence/346

Neutrino - GRB coincidence (?)

Another intriguing multi-messenger coincidence: A (very) high-energy neutrino candidate event was detected by the IceCube neutrino telescope at 2025-03-09 07:36:04. The preliminary data reconstruction gives an enormous energy of 4132 TeV (>4 peta electronvolt = 4x10^15 eV!). It has a 50% probability of being of astrophysical origin (signalness) and instead of a noise event induced for example by cosmic rays in the Earths atmosphere. This combination (very high energy but only relatively low sig...

🌌🔭. #FDS2024
The 3rd Astro-COLIBRI multimessenger astrophysics workshop took place last week at the Paris-Saclay university. Participants from 15 countries brainstormed about improving time domain astrophysics. During a 2-day hackathon several of the ideas have already been realized in working prototypes and will become reality in the very near future! Stay tuned.💥🔭
