The tomb has all its raiders.

Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the cast of its Tomb Raider live action adaptation. Sigourney Weaver, Bill Paterson, Jason Isaacs, and more will star alongside Sophie Turner’s Lara Croft. It’s great (sometimes) when a cast reveal gives away the plot of the show. Showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge knew exactly what she was doing casting Sigourney Weaver and I’m excited to see her in action.

What’s better than one Nintendo Direct? Two.

Nintendo has some more games to show us. After the company’s Partner Direct showcase last week, Nintendo has announced yet another showcase, this time an Indie World presentation, for Thursday, August 7th, at 9AM ET on YouTube. The presentation will be 15 minutes long which is plenty of time to share at least one new trailer for Silksong.

When’s Marvel? Pretty soon.

Sony has announced Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a new Marvel Comics fighting game developed by Guilty Gear studio Arc System Works, will make its debut at EVO 2025. You’ll be able to demo six playable characters - Storm, Ms. Marvel, Doom, Captain America, Iron Man and Star Lord - arranged in teams of four.

Also at EVO 2025, will be a developer panel discussing gameplay and development, if I know anything about EVO, there will likely be an exhibition showcase for the game as well. You can catch all the new info on Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls when EVO 2025 starts on August 1st.

Update: Romero Games is closing.

The dominoes from Microsoft’s layoffs continue to fall. Several games have been cancelled or their development halted with other studios, like The Initiative being permanently shuttered. Now Romero Games has announced that due to the layoffs, Microsoft has cancelled funding for its game. Update July 3rd: According to several employees’ posts on LinkedIn, Romero Games is closing outright due to the layoffs.

In the announcement, Brenda Romero wrote that the unannounced game had been progressing well. “We are incredibly proud of the work being done and the of the talented team behind it,” Romero wrote. “The best we’ve worked with.”

Everybody hated that.

In the thick of the Summer Game Fest presentation, Ian Proulx CEO of 1047 Games came out to promote his team’s new multiplayer shooter Splitgate 2. Problem is, he did it wearing a Make FPS Great Again hat which...is certainly a choice. A bad one. Now everybody’s talking about the hat and how much it sucks and not Splitgate 2.

Voice actor seemingly confirms a Persona 4 remake.

Yuri Lowenthal seems to have woken up and chosen violence. In a post on social media, the much-beloved voice performer wrote that he would not be reprising his role as Yosuke in the Persona 4 remake...which is news to everybody else because Atlus has not officially confirmed the existence of a Persona 4 remake.

Lowenthal wrote that he begged to be included in the cast but that, “They don’t want me to come back,” which might explain why a veteran voice actor might have so casually revealed the existence of an as yet unconfirmed game.

Dawn of the final day.

Only 24 hours remain... until Nintendo finally gives us the in-depth look we’ve been waiting for on the Switch 2. The direct starts bright an early at 9 AM ET / 6 AM ET and, in a new announcement from Nintendo, will last a chonky 60 minutes. Is an hour long enough to answer all our burning questions? Probably not. But Nintendo will also host Treehouse events on April 3rd and 4th featuring hands-on gameplay of Switch 2 games.

Ken Griffey Jr. would be so proud.

Nintendo and the Seattle Mariners go way back. The publisher owned the team from 1992 to 2016 and was responsible for publishing the best baseball game ever played by a shiba inu.

The connection got a little bit closer with the announcement that for the first time ever the Mariners will sport Nintendo logos on their jerseys. Nintendo’s iconic “racetrack” logo will appear on home jerseys while the Switch 2 logo will appear on away kits.

The highlight of Summer Games Done Quick was a very good dog playing 16-bit baseball

Peanut Butter the shiba inu made his first in-person appearance at the speedrunning charity event.

In celebration of MAR10 day, Nintendo’s official holiday celebrating its iconic red plumber guy, it dropped a new album on its Nintendo Music app - the soundtrack for Super Mario Bros. 3. You can see the full tracklist here, but it’s got a lot of Koji Kondo’s greatest hits like “Hurry Up! Underwater BGM” or “Hurry Up! King of the Koopas”.
