Archivist from Cincinnati. I work on the intersections of archives, climate change, recordkeeping, and environmental policy.
did you know Google Scholar shows you a little celebration screen when you hit 100 citations?
This is about student financial aid offices, but you could write this about most academic libraries too, including the "respondents who didn't have time to respond because of lack of staffing to gather data" Does anyone in higher ed leadership care about this crisis? Because I see a version of this in virtually every office at our university and at some point, the whole thing is going to collapse.
I've filled out the COACH survey before for MPOW. Considering what's going on at Harvard and their reckless disregard with information handling at such high levels, I'm pretty loathe to participate in this even though I know how important surveys like this can be. Anyone have thoughts?
I don't doubt for a moment that being a university president is an incredibly stressful job, but when adjuncts are on food stamps and staff are getting furloughed, this is a little bit of a clueless statement that doesn't engender a lot of sympathy for the top of the food chain (source: https://www.chronicle.com/article/college-presidents-need-help-lately-too)

I get a lot of weird academia spam but sometimes the subject lines are pretty hilarious
Having difficulty downloading some Hein database law review PDFs.... ASCII art as an error message is something I've never encountered before
Did not expect this intriguing and highly questionable part of Soviet nuclear history to show up in the federal Deepwater Horizon disaster report
It's pretty fucking wild that the APC to publish an open access article in a journal titled Capitalism Nature Socialism, which explicitly centers anticapitalist concerns in its scope, is close to $3k, but nothing matters anymore, I guess
@platypus You should really consider coming to the Appalachian Studies conference in Cincinnati next month https://scholar.social/media/UbSfQRmRIDBIE3ks8ww
