Garrett Schwartz, ASA, CEA, values equipment across the world for businesses, attorneys & CPAs.

Views are his own and not those of Sencer Appraisal or the ASA.

Ensure you find an appraiser that knows the type of assets you have. The golf course real estate appraiser should have reached out to an equipment appraiser (like us) for the rolling stock.

Appraisal likely undervalued golf course, says Watertown manager

The golf course deal Watertown did in Thompson Park may be worth more than first thought. That’s according to City Manager Ken Mix.

ChatCPT is a little better, but yesterday (among other issues), Bard seemed to think equipment appraisers are licensed by states (they aren't), and it completely made up a fictional group that it says trains equipment appraisers.
After spending time asking #BardAI and #ChatGPT about equipment appraising, I won't be relying on either for information if the answers actually need to be *correct*.

Sencer Appraisal was proud to be a sponsor of last week's AMEA Appraisers' Forum. Great presentations on valuing welders, laser cutters, presses, and a ton more.

I was very happy that ASA was also there, presenting on equipment appraisal education.

The headlines "Machinery Pete: Used equipment market continues to set records" & "Used Equipment Price Increases Continue to Trend Down" hit my feed simultaneously.

But the second headline doesn't actually say that prices are dropping, just that prices aren't increasing as quickly.

The two stories for those interested:

A post from my Instagram #appraisaltoolsflashback series: The 1985 catalog for NYC’s Tunnel Machinery Exchange. It's more of a firm history than an actual appraisal tools flashback, though, since Tunnel Machinery was part of my firm's origin.

The family that started our appraisal practice started in the auction business and later opened Tunnel Machinery on the first floor of a building on Canal Street."
