Celebrating another trip around that beautiful fusion ball in the sky. And doing it with a stunning #riesling from Clonakilla in the Canberra Wine Region. One of the coolest (as in temperature!) wine regions of Australia, they produce stunning cool-climate wines. White flowers, beautifully balanced acid. Just gorgeous!
The last drops of this wonderful vintage port. I'm not certain exactly how old it was, but Australian producers had to stop labelling their port-style fortified wines as "Port" in 2003 so it's at least 22 years old. On the label it claims a "Gold Medal" from the Melbourne Wine show in 1996 so I'm guessing it's after that, so somewhere between 22 and 29 years old? Anyway, absolutely delicious, and sad that it is all gone, but never forgotten
Happy New Years to all my fellow epicureans! May 2025 be a wonderful and prosperous year, with lots of great food and wine to be enjoyed! #nye2025

No, your eyes are not deceiving you, that is indeed condensation on the glass and bottle. It's currently 11pm here in the Hunter Valley and also still 33 Celsius with about 90% humidity. Typically that would call for a white or rose wine but I really wanted a red. So this lovely #pinotnoir from Ekin Wine Co got 20 minutes in the fridge to knock it down a bit and it's bloody perfect! From the Adelaide Hills, it's not a DRC, but it's also only AUD$20 a bottle. Perfect on a hot Aussie summer night!
Doesn't matter how many times I come here, I still marvel at this building. How it hasn't been used as a film set yet is beyond me. It's perfect for someone to come abseiling down the middle. 1 Bligh St Sydney
Have you ever wanted to go to a wine event, but knew that it would be wasted on you. That's how I feel about the Len Evans Tutorial. It is called "The Greatest Wine School in the World", partly because it's free, but mainly because they only accept 12 students per year. It's 4 days of intensive training on some of the most exclusive and expensive wines in the world. Don't believe me, take a look at the list from this year's Tutorial. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/6617b92c1ef6a65b82647692/t/67312d5e2b4f9e319131bf0f/1731276134935/2024+LET+Wine+Lists_FINAL+LIST.pdf

"To all my writer friends that use MS Word - Microsoft has turned their Al bits and bots on to automatically go through anything done via Word. Here's how to turn it off. File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options > Privacy Settings > Connected Experiences"

On the Mac I found it under Word/Excel/Etc > Preferences > Privacy, and near the bottom was the checkbox for "Turn on optional connected experiences" which of course was on by default.

I really do enjoy Becks beer, for my palette I don't think there are many better beers for quenching your thirst on a hot summer's day.

That said, whenever I drink it, I am reminded of a good friend who left this world well before his time. We shared a lot of Becks, but not nearly enough.

To friends who we drank with, and now drink to. Prost! ๐Ÿป
