Pied piper of software development; true full stack from embedded bare metal to cloud and everything in between. Currently leading all software development at Blink.

All opinions here are my own.

Inclusion makes us all better. Climate change is real. Tacos and sushi are proof that we live in a good world.

Scrum by micro management leads to learned helplessness (LH).

LH kills software development and innovation as the team learns that "someone else will do the work defining every step". This leads to 'leaders" stepping in more to micro.

My tl;dr on how to break this pattern is give the team the mandate and the space to fail. Repeatedly. Also, get the person driving to give up control. Most of the time, they don't want that control. This tl;dr has a lot of sub parts and it's never easy.

It’s #Photomonday so here’s a recent one from #grandcanyon. #photography is how I find zen from *waves hands* everything

I feel sad every time a developer tells me they hate agile. no, you hate micro managed scrum. I hate that too.

Too many times I've seen Scrum rituals and rites take precedence over people and learning. Agile is not replanning every 2 weeks. Agile is not Scrum. Agile is not ritual.

Agile is learning. Agile is change. Agile is being focused on the north star while delivering progress toward said north star. Agile is many ways to go forward, not one.

I may not have spotify, but the music streaming service I do use notified my that my two most popular artists are Arch Enemy and Charlie XCX.

Yep, that tracks.

As I'm still getting used to Mastodon, I'm joining in on the #7gamestoknowme me. Here are 7 games I love - presented in no particular order.

Planescape Torment
Witcher 3
Beyond Good and Evil
Fire Emblem 3 houses
Persona 5
Tales of Bersaria
Rise of the Tomb Raider

Sometimes the best way to reset your mind is to get back to nature.

Now back to delivering awesome tech to market.

A very simple psyop unfolds on Twitter. CCP hackers in China appear to have activated a bunch of dormant accounts and are using them to flood protest-related hashtags with porn. If you look for news about protests in various Chinese cities, about half the content will be porn -- and earlier, it was much higher. This is a direct result of an entire team devoted to foreign influence operations at Twitter being gone. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/11/27/twitter-china-spam-protests/
Twitter grapples with Chinese spam obscuring news of protests

Links to adult content overwhelmed other posts from Chinese cities where rallies escalated.
