Where to install fail2ban? - Lemmy.World

I’ve been doing some selfhosting and want to setup fail2ban for my exposed apps, but am unsure if that should be setup on my router (OpenWRT), on each server that may be exposed, or just in the Caddy container? My setup right now is: TP-Link router with OpenWRT Lenovo M910q with Proxmox, which hosts the following: - Caddy in a container for reverse proxies to hosted apps - Home Assistant OS in VM#1 - Other apps in docker containers on VM#2

That’s really good to hear! This is a game I’ve been hoping to run for a while now, and there are some games that just don’t play well without a TT of some sort. Thanks!

Mothership without a tabletop

Mothership without a tabletop - Lemmy.World

I’m thinking of running a Mothership campaign in the near future, but my group typically plays over Zoom and not everyone has a device that can support a VTT, so all of our games tend to be “theater of the mind”. No complaints, I’ve played this way for years. If you’ve played Mothership, do you think it would be runnable without a TT/VTT, or is that pretty essential?

Recommended video settings - Lemmy.World

Hi all, I’m new to video production and am trying to create some art-themed videos to upload to Peertube. Does anyone have recommended video output settings for OBS that would keep the filesize small while still having enough resolution to allow line art to appear readable? Or tips on using something like Handbrake to resize/compress videos without losing quality? I currently have the following settings in OBS, and my last drawing session resulted a 37min MKV file of 892MB: - Video encoder = FFmpeg VAAPI H.264 - Audio encoder = libfdk AAC - Recording format = MKV - Canvas resolution = 3840x2160 - Output resolution = 3840x2160 (could probably make this 1920x1080) - FPS = 60 (could probably make this 30)

I want to thank everyone who replied. I did some research on most of these and think PurelyMail is the winner for me. Feel free to correct me if I got some details wrong. I want to give a shoutout to @mbirth for mentioning Disroot, which looks like a really interesting experiment in federated services.

Also, I know this post is really bending the rules for c/selfhosted, but connecting your selfhosted services to an email provider is essential, and having a reliable and affordable email provider just makes this weird hobby of ours a little easier.
