Dastardly fun from Herman Martinus, who runs Bear Blog, on a very special UX implemented on the page when a user is determined to be a spammer: When spam is detected, clear the form (so all the info needs to re-typed) and throw an error, eg: "Our servers are bearly managing. Try again later." Disable pasting in all text areas.
"Behind the scenes, Google’s agent is taking screenshots of your browser window, something users must agree to in the terms of service, and sending them to Gemini in the cloud for processing. Gemini then sends instructions back to your computer to navigate the web page."

I'm always interested in exposure to management advice from unconventional sources... and there's a leaked PDF floating around called "HOW TO SUCCEED IN MRBEAST PRODUCTION" which appears to be the onboarding document for new members of the MrBeast YouTube production company
It's 36 pages long, so I put together some of my own notes from reading it here: https://simonwillison.net/2024/Sep/15/how-to-succeed-in-mrbeast-production/
Whether or not you enjoy MrBeast’s format of YouTube videos (here’s [a 2022 Rolling Stone profile](https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/mrbeast-youtube-cover-story-interview-1334604/) if you’re unfamiliar), this leaked onboarding document for new members of his production company …
One of my favourite documents in this genre remains "THE ELEVEN LAWS OF SHOWRUNNING", about how to run production of a TV show
It's unintentionally a fantastic guide to being an engineering manager, or startup founder, or indeed any role where you need a bunch of different creative people to understand and work together to bring about a creative vision:

Short: Nicolas Cage had just won the Oscar,Nicolas Cage won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 1995 film Leaving Las Vegas. and he came up on a plane … this is in my book, I think. I had never met him. I thought I must go over and congratulate him because he’s so great in that movie. And suddenly I looked, and there he is kneeling behind me, very sincerely telling me, with the great Nic Cage sincerity, “I destroyed my VHS machine because I rewound that [“Look at me like a human boy”] scene 35 times.”
Nicolas Cage (actor, Clifford fan): It’s true, but that wasn’t the scene. It was the scene in the kitchen after Martin Short put the Tabasco in Charles Grodin’s drink, and Martin Short starts reenacting Charles Grodin’s physical response … [Attempts to stifle laugh, can’t, starts laughing.] … to the Tabasco. It’s just the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. I did keep reviewing it, because I got so much joy out of rewatching it.
