Thinking about the fellow student in my coding class who not-so-subtly let everyone know they failed the midterm by asking "So hypothetically let's say we didn't do well on the midterm, how screwed are we?" Then following that up with "So let's say we didn't do well on the midterm, what can we do to improve for the final?"
