PHP: PHP 8 ChangeLog

PHP is a popular general-purpose scripting language that powers everything from your blog to the most popular websites in the world.

Here is the material that I used for my "So you think you know PHPUnit" presentation at #PHPDD24 today:

https://thephp.cc/presentations/so-you-think-you-know-phpunit?ref=mastodon

So you think you know PHPUnit | The PHP Consulting Company

PHPUnit has been around for over two decades and is used by nearly every PHP developer in the world. While most of us know the basics, there are depths and hidden valleys of PHPUnit that even the most experienced of us may have never even heard of. Join Sebastian Bergmann, the creator and maintainer of PHPUnit, to dig into the hidden depths of obscure command line invocations to get more out of the amazing tool you use every day.

The slides from this morning's keynote at #PHPDD24 are now online: https://speakerdeck.com/jrf/resurrecting-the-dead-9ce0f678-63ff-4eb0-9c37-249fd56aee0a

Hope you all enjoyed the talk and wishing you all fortitude in broaching this subject within the companies you work for.

Hamburg harbor fills with brass players for the evening concert … still 2 hours before it starts 😅
It takes more time to fix accessibility errors than it does to code accessibly. Devs need to stop with the excuse that coding accessibly takes more time.

When you update to one the latest bugfix releases for #NeosCMS you will receive a few additional performance improvements that I worked on.

One example: If you have image variants, like picture tags with various srcsets, the new version will now batch load additional thumbnails that need to be created for the target resolutions.
This results in 100 or more queries getting skipped on a page with many images.

And there is more to come 🙂

Yeah well … it seems that I would have to get her permission to continue my reading

OK! Looks like dates aren't my thing today...

The sprint is NOT (I repeat: NOT) this weekend but starts on the 30th of OCTOBER! (sensible people would have checked the website and seen that. I checked but didn't see it. 🤦)

Thanks @anke for making me aware of my carelesness...

(and no, there's no calendar that is just one month off the gregorian. Can't blame that. Have to blame myself...)
