@gruber a kind of reverse of the reality we find ourselves in, where everyone’s primary computer is their iphone, and iPad is a distant secondary device, which some people dont own?
@gruber I didnt explain myself well, apologies. I meant: do you think Steve pictured a future where iPad sold way more than iphone, people bought one yearly, people loved them in the way that, in reality, people love their iphones?
@gruber If, in 2011, you'd asked Steve Jobs to predict the future success of iPad and iPhone, would he have assumed iPad was #1 most wildly popular, and iPhone was #2?
@daringfireball Now they've seen Vision Pro and know how VR headsets are supposed to work...

@gruber Is it wishful thinking to assume that Apple AR Glasses with Vision Pro-like capability are closer than we might think? (Say... 2028 not mid 2030s?)

What we know:
- Tim Cook is "hell bent" on AR glasses
- Meta has prototype AR glasses, so it's not sci-fi; you can build them (but cost $10k to build)
- iPhone was 5 years ahead of the competition
- Tim Cook is retiring soon (Jan 2027?)

Wouldn't he retire *after* AR glasses are ready if it's his focus ATM?

@gruber The shape, you're right, but where they put the invisible "click target", which makes very little sense using a mouse? Is that to aid someones fat finger trying to tap-and-drag the window corner?
@gruber @mwichary Yep, I run into this bug all the time. I wondered if Marzipan apps were sandboxed into their own clipboard at one stage. I have no third party software that affects the clipboard, but sometimes I'll hit "paste" after copying info from WhatsApp for Mac and it won't paste.
@gruber Has the corner radius issue in Tahoe been caused by Apple having to build a version of Tahoe that works with a touch screen?
@gruber I'm a Jonny-come-lately who has only ever heard The Talk Show as part of Daring Fireball. Is there anywhere I can go to listen to pre-2014 episodes?

@gruber @atpfm

I'd be fascinated to hear your take on Apple Vision Pro.

Particularly:

What happened to the no-adjective Apple Vision which presumably was planned from day 1? (The hit product that "everyone" loves?)

Is Apple in the same kind of trouble with Vision Pro that it experienced with the trashcan Mac Pro, AirPower and/or AI-powered Siri?

If rumours are right about the renewed focus on smart glasses - & Apple somehow can leapfrog the competition by 5 years - why release Vision Pro?
