As I wrote yesterday, these are actually linked. As we spend less on fossil fuels, we can also spend less on national defense. This is yet another subsidy for fossil fuels.

The war in Iran shows us another cost of our fossil-fuel economy

our reliance on fossil fuels makes us less safe

The Climate Brink

On The Climate Brink, @hausfath.bsky.social writes about the trends of spending on clean energy vs. national defense:

When will clean energy spending exceed military spending?

Why I may have been a tad premature in my 2026 prediction.

On The Climate Brink, my latest post is on what the war in Iran tells us about the hidden costs of fossil fuels

Is climate change responsible for increasingly frequent or severe cold events? The evidence suggests it is not. Instead, the impact of climate change is warmer winters and less severe cold events. Zeke Hausfather has a great post on TCB talking about this. https://substack.com/home/post/p-186376927
Fact check: Climate change is not making extreme cold more common

Sometimes it just gets cold

On The Climate Brink, I write about the connection between climate change and flooding in the Pacific Northwest.

Yes, climate change is enhancing the flooding.
