Writer turned software engineer working in news and media in Atlanta.

Professionally, I’m an engineering manager leading the CNN Content Platforms infra & tooling teams. Previously at Apple, Disney, AWS, Canonical, the Washington Post, et al.

Otherwise, a fan of comics, literary fiction, film/TV, gaming, and travel with family.

I am so here for all this Apple 50th anniversary stuff.

What’s this thing called “work?!”

/me after having a Monday off

I keep forgetting I have Monday off for Presidents’ Day. When I remember, I get this warm feeling of delight and surprise washing over me.

Today, I have to go back home to Alabama from Atlanta, and at first, I was all like: _Ugh, losing a day driving._ Then, I remembered I have Monday off and suddenly that warm feeling of delight and surprise.

Found out about Vouch via @simon. Clever!

I’m most interested in these kinds of new implementations because of the impact of LLMs to coding. The way software will evolve is so fascinating.

I’m entering my app development phase. Again.

It’s this developer’s version of a new moon phase. It comes around periodically and then disappears.

I have this weird relationship with LLMs. I find them useful and think their impact to software engineering is real. AND I also think people way over-estimate their usefulness and impact.

Everyone that discovers them and has a good experience suddenly starts proclaiming the end of software engineering as we know it. Almost all of those people are extremely skilled programmers working in codebases by themselves. Or with 2-3 co-workers tops.

Started watching _Wonder Man_ last night on Disney+. I had heard more than one person say it’s the best Marvel TV series in awhile.

I’m only 3 episodes in, but I definitely agree. Really well done so far.

Writing takes time. Great writing takes what I can only describe as the lived experience of infinity, getting closer and closer yet somehow never reaching it.
Curled up under a blanket in the cold and finished this today. I might not seem like the target audience for a time travel romance novel, but I so am. #books #bookstodon #readers
What’s happening in Minnesota is heart breaking. It needs to end.
