The Oregon Supreme Court just turned down an appeal of the state's 2022 parking reform, which all but eliminated urban & suburban parking mandates statewide.
It's done.
Law of the land! 🌲🏘️🍻
Many cities, including Portland, are in a bind trying to offer mass shelters to people who, for legitimate reasons, don't want to move into them.
Tim proposes the Wheeler House as an alternative.
3) Finally we have what Tim even more cheekily calls the "Wheeler House," an enclosed 6'x8' home that he says would cost $2,000 to build and sits on a car trailer.
"In roof-down position, it appears to be a small tool or storage trailer about the height and length of a sedan."
Tim spells out the specs, sharing three ideas for radically agile housing:
1) A "new starter home" that can move and evolve with its resident. Not a mass-produced "pod" shelter (pictured); instead, a very simple, adaptable, ownable structure that remains useful long-term.
7. Instead, starting one year from now, current plan is relocate the student body for 3 years to another high school a 19-minute drive (and a 56-minute bus journey) away

good thing schools don't face attendance or graduation challenges these days
