Case 1: Employment Law

This case involved allegations of disability discrimination, failure to accommodate, retaliation, and wrongful termination. Given the potential exposure, and with the goal of keeping costs and fees low, Ms. Decker immediately prepared an answer and then jumped into settlement negotiations. In less than 4 months, the case was resolved for a nuisance amount and a fraction of the initial settlement demand, all without the defendant having to turn over a single document.

I recently put together my first ever “application" for a legal client. Yes, I’ve had more potential client meetings than I can count, but never a full on written pitch. One of the components was a sort of modified CV where everyone highlighted a few recent cases.

For myself I picked 5 different cases that showed resolutions at different points in the litigation lifecycle. I also showcased a diversity of types of cases that encompass the wide range of my practice.

I am taking three depositions and defending a fourth this week- meanwhile I’m behind in write ups of last weeks deposition that I took and three witness interviews- and that’s not to mention the reply I have to write Friday/this weekend and the other like million things on my to do list.
The more I have spoken at conferences and events the more I’ve realized that so many of these conferences charge people to speak and so you aren’t getting the best content- just whoever had the best marketing budget. (I’ve never paid to speak at an event becuase it just doesn’t sit right with me.)
On one hand I was not as productive as I wanted to be today- but I did do yoga, get groceries for the week, get caught up on time entry, submitted an application to get on a defense panel for a new and large potential client, and got caught up on some emails and other things on my to do list.
Yummy Saturday at Wood & Salt!
Watched Sinners and it was really great. Great music. Great vampire movie.
House shopping in Long Beach and stopped to get a coffee and an absolutely delicious cherry and pistachio scone.
