Unfortunately some are an intoxicating mix of a bit of truth with a _whole_ lot of untruth and fabrication, so you have to sift through it enough to then point out the logic jumps that validate it.
Once you get to that point, you can always ask "but why did you make that leap?".
Often that's a productive conversation.

To be fair though, it can get pretty bad in big cities over here in Europe. Depending on where you live, you might be spending 1-2 hours (each way) on public transport.
One of the best things we can do as a society is keep normalizing WFH, making it viable, reducing the need for (sometimes obscene) commutes.
