Startup culture has conditioned the industry into putting up fake landing pages to learn if anyone clicks Buy.
It's nice to know early on whether an idea gets traction. But this also encourages developers to sell vaporware and ship out unfinished products.
Profiling help spot performance regressions and bottlenecks in larger systems. But it can become a crutch you lean on. It won't help pick a better algorithm or streamline the data layout. It can't magically weed spaghetti out of the inner loop.
That's when you have to flex your brain muscle. Restructure the code or rewrite it with performance in mind. An eye for simplicity and a willingness to cut through geological layers of abstractions will improve things.
Staring at a flame graph won't!
