Yeah I agree it's not ideal, but I think for a lot of places dispersed Airbnb's are better than building a massive hotel building and constantly staffing it

The thing limiting housing stock is zoning and other restrictions on development. My grandparents wanted to build a 2nd dwelling on empty land, and the cost of the approval was just as much or more than the construction itself. Imagine how much worse it would be if they had to rezone also, and face protests for gentrification
