In past lives, I've worked in most aspects of book publishing (Bookpeople, Ten Speed Press, University of California, Insight Editions, Parallax) as a designer and sales/marketing guy. Moved to video production for tech and mostly worked with VMware. Now I'm building a farmstead and forge in Southern Washington and making knives and other tools in addition to digital sparklies.

Got the pre-heat treat grind done, including the top hole and pin holes on the tang. If I pushed a bit, I could have done the heat treat and tempering as well today. This is something of a milestone, a sellable blade from billet to ready for scales in one day.
Took a break from building goat barn alpha to turn on the forge, first time in over a week. Had an excellent session where I shaped a pound and half of 5160 into a cleaver over 2 hours. I’ll forge out some details later today and get it sorted on a grinder in prep for heat treat. #blacksmithing #bladesmith #farmstead #washingtonstate
